    Allison's Hickory Pit

Take out doesn't have to be defrosted and deep fried. Here take out is a rich home cooked meal that often comes smothered, stewed, or sautéed. Here's a tip from the locals, call ahead! Allison's savory plate lunches are such a huge hit that they often create a long line of grumbling tummies. Friday through Sunday, chow down on smoky southwest Louisiana barbecue, but take heed, the ribs are addictive.

    Ardoin's Grocery

In 1955, Russel and Bee opened Ardoin's Grocery & Market in Washington. In 1969, a new store was constructed by recycling wood and siding from the old store, leaving very little waste. Today, this small family owned grocery is still the same as it was in 1955 offering specialty meats, boudin, and other Louisiana kitchen staples. To this day meat is still cut fresh daily for the display box, and when in season find produce from local farmers in the area including cantaloupe, cumbers, ripe tomatoes, and more.

    Bayou Teche Brewing

Started in a converted old rail car near the banks of the Bayou Teche, Bayou Teche Brewing (BTB) is crafting innovative ales true to the brewer's original intent – beers that complement the unique foods and lifestyles of South Louisiana. All beers are named in Cajun French in an effort to help preserve and promote our native language. Visit the brewery's tap room, also known as the triangle hangout, for craft beer samples often paired with local boudin and cracklin, and live entertainment and food trucks on Saturdays. There are currently 10 full-time beers on tap, some of which are distributed in 12 states and Canada. Visitors aged 21 or over are welcome to visit the brewery for a tour, offered in English and French.

The Brewery is also featured on the Louisiana Brewery Trail that was launched in September 2013.

    Café Josephine

The menu at Cafe Josephine is just as eclectic as the multitude of antique shops and local art studios surrounding it. Best described as, rustic cuisine, Chef Troy creates dishes with a unique flair while still staying true to the local culture. His menu is teeming with comfort foods like shrimp and grits, wild game like duck tamales, and tacos spiked with a drizzle of Sriracha and pecan pepper jelly. Here's a tip from the locals; don't go hog-wild on their famous cheddar biscuits. It's all too tempting but save room. It'll be worth it!
