    Old Courtableau Café

The Old Courtablea Café is a Cajun-style, family restaurant and dancehall in Washington, Louisiana. To get there, take scenic Highway 182 which leads to downtown Washington. The cafe is located among homes, antique shops, and other magnificent examples of architecture from the steamboat era.

The owners, David and Peggy Allemond, have restored the storefront and retraced its history to the 1840's. While the husband and wife team is still researching the store's exact origins, locals still remember Lastrapes Meat Market, the general mercantile, and People's drug store.

Today, locals and visitors alike, celebrate its long history with live music and good food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In the morning enjoy a hot cup of coffee and a batch of fresh, fried beignets or a stack of Paw-paw's Pancakes. For lunch and dinner choose from grilled or fried seafood, fresh salads, stuffed po'boys, or homestyle plate lunches. Check OldCourtableauCafe.com for daily lunch specials.

    Ray's Grocery Plus

For three generations, the original Ray's boudin recipe has been breakfast, lunch, and even a mid-afternoon snack. However, for the family owned and operated business, the original link isn't the only crowd pleaser. Crawfish boudin, pepper jack cheese stuffed boudin balls, and a sweet potato biscuit also prove to be popular with hungry visitors. In fact, they take it even a step further creating a breakfast sandwich by topping their homemade sweet potato biscuit with a fried boudin patty, house made bacon and a drizzle of cane syrup. With a wide selection of craft beer in their coolers, you can even wash it all down with a bottle LA-31 Bière Pâle by Bayou Teche Brewing.
