Tour du Teche is an annual three-day race down the entire course of Bayou Teche in south Louisiana. It’s 49 miles Friday, 59 miles Saturday and 27 miles Sunday. The race always begins on the first Friday of October, with registration on Thursday. Ports of call include Port Barre (start), Leonville, Breaux Bridge, Parks, St. Martinville (1st day finish), Loreauville, New Iberia, Jeanerette, Charenton, Baldwin, Franklin (2nd day finish), Centerville, Patterson, Bayou Vista, Berwick (3rd day finish). Canoes, kayaks and pirogues (the traditional Cajun canoe) are welcome to enter. Small sections of Bayou Courtableau and the Atchafalaya River are included. Opening ceremony starts Thursday with Friday starting the race. Both Tour du Teche and Tour de la Rivière Rouge are a part of the 410 de Louisiane, which is a string of three races from Shreveport to Berwick.

This event is coordinated by Tour du Teche, Inc., a non-profit organization that was organized to promote outdoor recreation along the Bayou Teche Corridor through St. Landry, St. Martin, Iberia and St. Mary parishes.
