Tour de la Riviere Rouge 275 III

Tour de la Rivière Rouge is a is a wild and woolly 275-mile race for paddlers from Shreveport to Port Barre via the Red River, Atchafalaya River and Bayou Courtableau. To be recognized as successfully completing the race, teams must finish within 100 hours, putting them in Port Barre by 6 p.m. on the day before the start of Tour du Teche. This is an adventure race, designed to tax the most accomplished long-distance racers. There are five dams on the Red, which paddlers may portage around or lock through at their discretion. There are no checkpoints and no mandatory stops. Both Tour de la Rivière Rouge and Tour du Teche are a part of the 410 de Louisiane, which is a combination of the two races, running from Shreveport to Berwick.

This event is coordinated by Tour du Teche, Inc., a non-profit organization that was organized to promote outdoor recreation along the Bayou Teche Corridor through St. Landry, St. Martin, Iberia and St. Mary parishes.
