11th Annual Festival of Words
Acadiana's literary festival is back this year in Grand Coteau, November 2-3. The Festival of Words is a free event celebrates the written and spoken word through public readings and performances, a student creative writing contests, open mics, writing workshops, and “drive-by poetry". The festival is open to all ages and all experience levels. This year's authors include
Louisiana Poet Laureate, Jack Bedell; author, Cornelius Eady; and novelist, Ladee Hubbard.
Friday, November 2 - Kick-OffReadings, performances, and book and CD sales with featured artists Jack Bedell, Ladee Hubbard, and Cornelius Eady and Rough Magic with a local musician. Chicorys Coffee & Cafe | 7pm-9:30pm Saturday, November 3 - Events - Drive-by-poetry with area students (various locations) 9:30am-3pm 9:30am-3:30pm - Community writing workshops presented by featured artists 11am-3:30pm - Community Stage & The Blackpot Cook-Off 11:30a-12:15pm - Awards ceremony for Youth Creative Writing Contest
