    Open House at The Gallery

Every month, Ted Bertrand, features the works of a fellow artist. To kick things off, Ted invites everyone to the gallery for an open house with refreshments, live music, and a sneak preview of the new artwork.

Join Ted and area artists every first Friday of the month at Artworks by Ted Bertrand. Bertrand is known for his impressionistic scenes of the south and is inspired by the beauty of old Acadian style homes, cotton gins, grain bins and other structures that exemplify this area. The gallery is housed in the historic Bank of Sunset & Trust Company building, originally built in 1906, and also features the work of Anne Matt.

LA MISS Daffodil Society Flower Show

The newly formed, combined LA MISS Daffodil Society is hosting their second flower show and educational event in Opelousas, LA. The American Daffodil Society is 55 years old and is pleased to be back in Louisiana. It is a myth that we can't grow daffodils this far south.

Bring cut flower stems of any and all types of daffodils. The society's term "daffodil" includes the flowers known as Narcissus, jonquils, sweeties, Texas Stars, and other common names. Experts will identify them, help you enter them in the informal show, explain their merits, and you might win ribbons for your efforts! Nationally recognized authority Dr. Ted Snazelle will present information learned from a lifetime of growing and showing daffodils. A display of daffodil books, brooches, and the lovely flowers will infect you with a raging case of yellow fever! All containers and show materials will be furnished. Just bring flowers, no matter how common.

This event is co-sponsored by the Washington Garden Club
