    Top of the Teche V

    Top of the Teche is a 7.7 mile race for kayaks, canoes, pirogues and SUPs from Leonville to Arnaudville. There are 15 classes to choose from and competitors will vie for trophies. There are six divisions: Men, Women, Mixed, Boys, Girls, and Mixed Youth. The competition is for trophies and certificates. Entry is $40 per paddler.

    7:30am to 8:30am - Late registration for voyageur race divisions
    8am to 8:45am - Boat check for voyageur race divisions
    9am - Start race for voyageur race divisions
    7:30am to 10am - Late registration for pro race divisions
    10am to 10:45am - Boat check for pro race divisions
    11am - Start race for pro race divisions 

    This event is coordinated by Tour du Teche, Inc., a non-profit organization that was organized to promote outdoor recreation along the Bayou Teche Corridor through St. Landry, St. Martin, Iberia and St. Mary parishes. The event benefits the work of the Arnaudville Chamber of Commerce and the Leonville Volunteer Fire Department.

    Old Fashioned Fais-do-do Barn Dances

    Lakeview Park & Beach is known to throw an amazing party whether it be Mardi Gras, Black Pot Camp, one of their Saturday night Old Fashioned Fais Do-Do barn dances. This rustic barn is the perfect setting foot stompin’, two steppin' Cajun dancing and music. Acadian’s best performers are known to frequent the barn stage, including Grammy-nominated band, Bonsoir Catin. So Come out and pass a good time with the locals. During summer months also enjoy live music on the beach. 

    Campers receive four free armbands for the beach and two free tickets to the Barn dance. Non-campers can purchase a day pass armband for $10 on weekends, $7 on weekdays, and $5 on Tuesdays that allows you access to the beach, beach playground, fishing lake, and any beach entertainment.

    Cajun Jam Session

    No permission, no costjust pure enjoyment of Cajun music with the Savoy family. Participate with your own instrument, watch or supply some boudin and cracklins. Marc and Ann Savoy started the Savoy-Doucet Cajun Band in 1977 and now their children are making their own marks in Cajun music history including an appearance on HBO's Treme and a record label, Valcour Records. Join the Savoy's every Saturday throughout the year, and enjoy a musical experience like no other.

    Rendez-vous des Cajuns

    Bring your dancing shoes to "Rendez-vous avec des Cajuns," a live radio show in the Grand Old Opry/Louisiana Hayride/Prairie Home companion format. The emcee hosts the program in Cajun French with enough English spoken so that everyone can enjoy this unique and one-of-a-kind experience.     Prairie Acadian Cultural Center - The Cajun Way

    Local artisans, musicians, and more show off their skills with demonstrations of music, dancing, quilting, and the French language. Practice your Cajun two-step with the assistance of an expert volunteer and music provided by local musicians. Watch scrap fabrics become a beautiful quilt, and come hungry for a foodways presentation by locals and professional chefs.
