13th Annual Le Feu et l'Eau (Fire and Water) Rural Arts Celebration

Born following the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Fire and Water featured signature floating fires and the work of visual artists with only a sampling of other artistic disciplines; however, over the last several years the event has expanded to become more of a celebration featuring a multitude of local artists, performers and cultural workers in a variety of disciplines and genres. Participate in cooking demos, and watch feature films. Hear live music, listen to poetry and shop local art vendors. Plus, don't miss the traditional peace march, honoring veterans to Bayou Warehouse, where the traditional fire is set ablaze upon Bayou Fusilier.

In 2016 the festival was moved from December to April and is now two days of festivities ending a week-long conference, Semaine de la Francophonie. Formerly known as La Semaine Francaise d'Arnaudville or French Week, this cultural economy conference emphasizes the use of Creative Placemaking with subjects such as tourism, environmental sustainability, economic and social development, government, education, and folklife traditions.
