    Exploring Historic Opelousas: Black History Exhibit

    The theme of this year's Black History Month Exhibit explores the history of Opelousas and the "movers and shakers" of the African-American business community who've contributed to the local and national economy. The month-long exhibit also displays historical images and information about Opelousas' dance clubs. The towns locale made it a popular stop for traveling artists such as B.B. King, Etta James, and Sam Cooke. 

    The exhibit's opening ceremony will take place February 8, 2017 at 5:30pm

    7th Annual Krotz Springs Sportsmen's Heritage Festival

    The Annual Krotz Springs Sportsmen's Heritage Festival was voted Best New Event for 2013 by the Louisiana Association of Fairs & Festivals. The mission of this cultural event is to promote the wetlands and woodlands that surround the community of Krotz Springs and the Atchafalaya River. Join the locals in celebrating and sharing the heritage and extraordinary wildlife and habitats on the banks of the Atchafalaya. Adventurous foodies can vote for the best wild game in the Fur, Feathers, or Fins cook-off. Cajun, Swamp Pop, and Zydeco music fans can take over the dance floor, and families will enjoy the fairgrounds, food, and art vendors.

    Every Woman Series

    Every Woman is a two-month-long celebration for and by women featuring a series of cultural events. The series focuses on art, spirituality, and social activities and invites men, women, and children to join in. Most activities take place at NUNU Arts & Culture Collective, an educational non-profit and arts incubator in Arnaudville, Louisiana. The collective advocates for Louisiana French education and hosts numerous events throughout the year in both French and English.
