3rd Annual Experience Louisiana Festival
You’re in for a treat! The mission of the festival is to celebrate and feature all that is great about the State of Louisiana. Year by year the content will change, but the model remains the same. The festival’s major components include Folklife Village, Main Stage, Food Village, Musician’s Village, Walk-Through Louisiana, Craft Village, Artist’s Village, Film Village, Cooking Demos by Louisiana Chefs, Coushatta Village, Narrative Stages, Athletic Events, Antique & Classic Car Show and more!
Several live demonstrations take place throughout the weekend including an old time boucherie or hog butchering, a courir de Mardi Gras (Mardi Gras run), folklife traditions such as instrument making or basket weaving, and Cajun and Creole cooking demonstrations by professional chefs. This year the festival's theme is agriculture, an appropriate topic for area abundant with generational farms. In fact, many are chefs from across Acadiana (nine parishes) get an assortment of fresh cuts of beef, pork, and poultry at the local slaughter house and superette in Eunice. The festival will celebrate the industry with a dried crops exhibit, a visit from Smoky the Bear, demo by the Louisiana Dutch Oven Society, a game called Forestry Squares, and several other outdoor activities.
