Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation Society Tour
A project to restore a ten-acre plot of Cajun Prairie began in 1988 in Eunice, LA. Volunteers used only local seeds and plugs collected from nearby remnants, so this prairie is as can as can be. Join the Cajun Prairie Habitat Society for the fall tour of restored prairies & remnants in the area.
This year there will be a seed swap for the fall meeting. Bring seeds to share, labeled with identification and seed origin. Package seed into individual packages.Old Wal-Mart bags do well for this - cut (pull) them into ten pieces and wrap seed - tie into a knot at the top or tape shut or use an envelope - cut into four (quartered), add seed and fold/ tape shut. Bring your own seed “containers” for those who don’t provide.
New to the preservation meeting is a native plant and prairie seed auction!
