    21st Annual Celebration of Herbs & Gardens

    Everything for the garden enthusiast including plants, fresh herbs, herbal products, pottery, garden art and informative presentations. Refuel with a fried pie from Louisiana Pie Peddlers, boudin from Janise's Super Market, or a bowl of jambalaya. Save room for dessert, Cajun confections will be on sale such as handmade Cajun sweet dough pies and Gateau Na Na.

    First-timers, we suggest bringing a wagon to load up. Also, just a reminder, the early bird gets the worm!  

    Celebration of Herbs and Gardens is held the first Saturday in May every year and is hosted by the Sunset Garden Club.

The Rubboard Capitol of the World is also known for its collection of vintage shops and antique dealers, most of which carry original artwork by area artists. The second Saturday of every month, visit local galleries and shops for unique finds and participate in a traditional Cajun jam session where local musicians "fiddle around" in a casual setting. Anyone with an instrument is welcomed to hop in.

    35th Annual Juneteenth Folklife Celebration

    A celebration that highlights the folk art, heritage and traditions of the African-American culture in this area. This celebration is to pay tribute to the date when Texas slaves first heard the news of their freedom. As this is a family friendly event, no alcohol is sold or allowed on site.

    Fireworks on the River

    The town of Krotz Springs is observing their 100th anniversery with fireworks on the river. Bring your lawn chairs and plan to spend the evening in a family atmosphere. Prior to the fireworks, we will enjoy live music by JC Melancon & The Bayou Rock Band. There will be fun jumps for the kids, and food and refreshments will be served. Ice chests are permitted, but no bottles please. We will cap off the evening with a great fireworks display complete with patriotic music at dusk.

    28th Annual Lebeau Zydeco Festival

    Celebrate this unique genre of music called zydeco with live performances, dancing, and Creole cuisine—including their famous pork backbone dinners.     5th Annual Southwest Louisiana Attakapas Opelousas Prairie Tribe Festival

    Experience Opelousas' colorful Native American heritage with traditional dancing, drumming, arts & crafts, storytelling, food. There will also be outside vendors with items for purchase and special guest speakers, Harvey and Carolyn Whitford. Children and adults can learn something new with lessons demonstrating traditional dance and jewelry making, and participate in other educational activities like Native American Stickball. This family friendly event will be hosted by Chief Nolan Gobert and Tribal Council Members. It is free to the public and is an alcohol-free event.
