Experience Louisiana Festival
October 20 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
The mission of the Experience Louisiana Festival is to celebrate all of the cultures, cuisine, music, and traditions of the State of Louisiana. From jazz and brass to Cajun and zydeco, the Main Stage features Louisiana musicians from all genres. In the Artist Village, you can shop local and find gifts in every art form. Under the Folklife Village watch a weaver hand-spin brown cotton, Native Americans weave reeds into beautiful baskets, and blacksmiths forge iron into jewelry and other craft items.
Other festival components include the Food Village, the Walk-through Louisiana, and a Classic Car & Truck Show. Several live demonstrations take place throughout the day including an old time boucherie, or hog butchering, a Courir de Mardi Gras run, and Cajun and Creole cooking demonstrations by professional chefs.
At the end of the day, organizers encourage everyone to leave the festival grounds and head to the Liberty Theater for the Saturday night tradition, The Rendez-vous des Cajuns. Every Saturday, this live radio show features a Cajun or zydeco music band, and there’s plenty of room on the dance floor for a two-step or Cajun waltz.
This festival takes place in Eunice, Louisiana on the campus of LSUE. Activities are centered around the Acadian Center.
