LA Orphan Train Museum 10-year Anniversary
October 12 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
The only Orphan Train Museum in Louisiana, and one of only two of it’s kind in the United States to document the lives and travels of the children from the New York Foundling hospital, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this October.
Tour the museum, located in scenic Le Vieux Village right as you enter Opelousas, and learn the history of these children who survived among the tens of thousands of orphans in New York and rode the trains to find new life in rural Louisiana. It is through the efforts of museum president, Martha Aubert, and the volunteers that help the museum function that this important story is being told and retold to new generations.
Come out and celebrate their accomplishments in the Zydeco Capital of the World.
