Washington Mardi Gras
February 22 @ 9:00 pm - February 23 @ 4:00 pm
Time to get in the saddle for the Washington Mardi Gras celebration. This unique Mardi Gras experience will be taking place on February 22-23 before Mardi Gras proper on March 5 in the historic steamboat town of Washington.
February 22 – Mardi Gras Kick-Off
9pm – The dulcet country tones of Clay Cormier and the Highway Boys will kick off the Washington Mardi Gras Celebration at Willie’s Campground. This event is free for all trail ride participants, for everyone else it’s a $10 cover.
February 23 – Trail Ride
7am – Party like a local by participating in a trail ride along with your friends. The trail starts at Willie’s and continues through Washington’s picturesque countryside. Enjoy the fresh air as you take part in this cultural tradition. There’s a $20 fee per rider if you register beforehand. On the day of the event, registration will be $30 per rider. Contact Willie’s Campground at 337-826-4822 after 3pm for more information about the trail ride and registration.
11am – Half-way through the trail ride will be a traditional chicken run. It’s time to let loose and channel all your Mardi Gras spirit to be the one to catch the coveted chicken.
3pm – After you’ve worked up your appetite riding horses and chasing chickens, gumbo is served. Nothing like that comforting roux to make your Mardi Gras just right, and with Ian Falgoust of Kit Shicker DJing you’ll have a Mardi Gras to remember.
Enjoy the outdoors and lazy current of Bayou Courtableau as you celebrate Mardi Gras this season.
