Lebeau Mardi Gras
February 24 @ 1:00 pm
Celebrate Mardi Gras like nowhere else on February 24 in the northern St. Landry community of Lebeau, Louisiana. Located near the intersection of the Petite Prairie Bayou and Highway 71, this tight-knit slice of the parish and was home to zydeco legend Rockin’ Sidney and hosts their own Zydeco Festival which takes place every July.
The Lebeau Mardi Gras Parade welcomes participants of all types. Whether you’re on horse, ATV, side by side, automobile, wagon, or a traditional float you can find a place in this procession alongside parade marshall Stephanie Smallwood of KFXZ 105.9. The lineup is at 11am with the parade leaving from 224 E Railroad Avenue in the town of Palmetto at 1pm continuing on to the Immaculate Conception Church where Step Rideau will be performing.
Continue the zydeco tradition with Step Rideau live on stage. This Lebeau native is famous for his authentic sound and has performed at the 2012 Presidential Inauguration, Lincoln Center, and Kennedy Center, even playing alongside artists like Gladys Knight, Morris Day & The Time, George Clinton, Eli Young Band, and Mingo Salvivar.
Dance to Step Rideau’s zydeco as you chase the chicken and greased pig in this rendition of a Courir de Mardi Gras. Be the one to catch either animal and claim your trophy this Mardi Gras.
