Join the ATCHAFALAYA ORCHESTRA under the direction of ANDRÉ COURVILLE for the first concert of our second annual baroque music festival featuring special guest JOURDAN THIBODEAUX!

Our opening concert of Baroque on the Bayou 2026 will present two stunning concerti by Vivaldi and Bach featuring mother-daughter flutist duo Andrea and Susanna Loewy, as well as Cajun fiddler and singer Jourdan Thibodeaux performing his original French songs. About the Artists:

Jourdan Thibodeaux and his band Les Rôdailleurs are known for pairing ancient Cajun French traditions with high-voltage energy and original songwriting rooted in life in Cypress Island, Louisiana. Since breaking out in 2018, they have gained a reputation for preserving culture while pushing it forward, with appearances ranging from Festivals Acadiens et Créoles and Jazz Fest to SXSW and the Congrès Mondial in Canada.

Andrea Kapell Loewy performed as Principal Flute of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra for more than 30 years and has appeared as concerto soloist in repertoire spanning Baroque through modern works. Her international experience includes principal roles with the Orchestra of the State of Mexico and guest principal work with the Shanghai Symphony, plus recital and teaching tours in China and performances across the U.S. A longtime educator, she is Professor Emerita at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a recipient of the university’s Distinguished Professor Award, having held the Heymann II Endowed Professorship in Music.

Susanna Loewy is a flutist and arts leader who serves as Executive Director and flutist of the Network for New Music in Philadelphia. She holds BM/MM degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a DMA from Rutgers University, and she is on faculty at Rowan University and an Affiliate Artist at Haverford/Bryn Mawr Colleges. Her performance work includes collaborations with ensembles and organizations across the U.S., and she is also Principal Flutist of Inscape, the chamber group nominated for a Grammy for its debut recording.
