Crawfish House & Grill

2024-10-21T15:13:06-05:00

Crawfish House & Grill in Opelousas is the birthplace of the “Cajun Girl Poboy”, a sandwich made with fresh French bread and stuffed with crab meat, shrimp, and crawfish that’s tossed in a rich seafood sauce. Enjoy other traditional Cajun dishes for lunch and dinner, or any of their gourmet salads as a lighter option. When in season, get boiled shrimp and boiled crawfish that comes straight from the owners’ pond.

Café Josephine

2024-10-22T09:48:03-05:00

After a long day of shopping in Sunset, Louisiana, take a break at Café Josephine. The menu is best described as southern comfort meets gourmet cuisine. Chef Troy gets creative with traditional dishes, adding his own unique flair, while still staying true to the local food culture. His menu features classic Louisiana-style comfort foods like shrimp and grits or seafood gumbo. However, if you’re looking something different you can also find dishes like his famous Zydeco Tacos, spiked with a drizzle of Sriracha and pecan pepper jelly.

Here’s a tip from the locals; don’t go hog-wild on their famous cheddar biscuits. It’s all too tempting! Save some room the main course, a few cocktails, and dessert, or sample fresh and charbroiled seafood at the oyster bar.

The Little Big Cup

2021-03-11T14:36:21-06:00

Spend time with locals on the banks of Bayou Fuselier at the Little Big Cup in Arnaudville. This fine-dining restaurant feels more like the home of an old friend, one with excellent taste and a scenic view of the bayou, likely due to the owners Kevin Robin and Sanjay Maharaj. The two New Yorkers moved back to Robin’s hometown, Arnaudville, and opened the restaurant in 2012. Since then the restaurant has created a buzz on the bayou with dishes like Praline Chicken or the popular Boucherie Brunch Buffet items. Their “A+” reputation isn’t solely about the food but the wait staff’s kindness and southern hospitality.

The Little Big Cup specializes in Cajun and Creole dishes, but Wednesday nights are now reserved for the cuisine of the Caribbean, a tribute to the owner’s heritage, Sanjay, who is originally from Trinidad. Each week the restaurant will explore new flavors, spices, and dishes from a different island.
