Café Josephine

2024-10-22T09:48:03-05:00

After a long day of shopping in Sunset, Louisiana, take a break at Café Josephine. The menu is best described as southern comfort meets gourmet cuisine. Chef Troy gets creative with traditional dishes, adding his own unique flair, while still staying true to the local food culture. His menu features classic Louisiana-style comfort foods like shrimp and grits or seafood gumbo. However, if you're looking something different you can also find dishes like his famous Zydeco Tacos, spiked with a drizzle of Sriracha and pecan pepper jelly.

Here's a tip from the locals; don't go hog-wild on their famous cheddar biscuits. It's all too tempting! Save some room the main course, a few cocktails, and dessert, or sample fresh and charbroiled seafood at the oyster bar.

Bayou Teche Brewing

2022-04-29T10:23:23-05:00

Bayou Teche Brewing in Arnaudville is one of Louisiana's leading microbreweries. The family owned and operated brewery comes from humble beginnings, starting in a converted rail car, but today the Knott family has their own bottling facility, a tap room, private event space, and a 3,000 sq.ft. landscaped beer garden.

The mission of this farmhouse brewery is to design ales that pair nicely with the regional cuisine of South Louisiana – gumbo, gravy, boudin, and more! Sample these ales in the taproom. Their menu has a long list of beers ranging in flavor and IBUs, all of which can be sampled in a custom beer flight. Each unique recipe is inspired by Cajun and Creole lifestyles, some with local ingredients such as Louisiana cane sugar, locally roasted coffee, and locally grown grains. New to the brewery is Cajun Saucer Pizza. That's right; the brewery has a brand new pizza oven and is making fresh, hand-tossed pies on site. Each recipe is topped with Cajun cooking favorites such as smoked boudin, tasso, and Cajun-style sausage. You can eat at the Saucer any weekend, Friday through Sunday, and sip on the porch with the locals. In fact, the weekend is the best time to visit the brewery. Every Saturday, the porch becomes a stage for some of Louisiana's best Cajun and zydeco music bands. On Sunday, musicians host a jam session while the locals play Bourré, a trick-taking card game popular in South Louisiana.

Visitors aged 21 or over are welcome to visit the brewery for a tour, offered in English or French.

The Brewery is also featured on the Louisiana Brewery Trail that was launched in September 2013.
