Closing Celebration of Where We Live Exhibit

The photo exhibit, Where We Live: Opelousas Neighborhoods, closes on May 2 with a big celebration.

The Opelousas Neighborhoods exhibit showcases photographs contributed by residents of Opelousas, featuring everyday scenes, historic spaces, traditions, and moments of community life. Contributions represent a wide range of neighborhoods including North End, the Hill, the Oil Mill, and multiple other beloved sections of the city. Each image reflects a piece of personal perspective — a front porch gathering, a street corner conversation, a driveway basketball game— collectively forming a portrait of how residents experience the place they call home.

On May 2, we will celebrate with an Open Mic, conversations and food.  At 1 p.m., participants are invited to bring home their own images.  At that time, we will also announce images that have been selected to be displayed as public art on a billboard.
