Cankton Accordion Festival
Cankton is the Accordion Capital of Louisiana. In the late 1800s, the surviving Medieval fiddle traditions of the Acadians merged with the favored instrument of German immigrants, the accordion, to revolutionize the regional music of the area. Today, the single-row diatonic button accordion is synonymous with Cajun music.
Celebrate these historic traditions on May 23 with authentic Cajun music, dancing, food, and family fun at the Cankton Accordion Festival at the Landon Pitre Memorial Park.
