Acadian Brown Cotton Exhibit Reception & Screening
Join us as we screen the lovingly made documentary “Coton jaune Acadian Brown Cotton: A Cajun Love Story” at the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center in Opelousas on Friday, October 6th at 3pm. Refreshments will be provided.
This film by Sharon Gordon Donnan and Suzanne Chaillot Breaux documents the history, tradition and artistry of handspun and handwoven Acadian brown cotton blankets and the Cajun women who made them. The screening doubles as a reception for the Brown Cotton Exhibit which will be on display at the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center throughout the month of October.
The event precedes the Acadian Fibershed Meeting which takes place the following day. The meeting will include loom demonstrations, crafts vendors and speakers.
