This home, located in Arnaudville, was built in 1796 during the time when the Spanish ruled this part of Louisiana. Now, this beautiful building is a bilingual bed & breakfast and event space.

Built by Martin Duralde, the French Basque commandant of the Opelousas Post from 1795-1803, this residence was home to many families over the years until Douet & Rich Howes purchased the twenty-acre estate in 2019. Newly renovated and committed to being French-friendly, the staff at Maison Stéphanie will speak both French and English and signs on the property are bilingual as well.

This beautiful property is located under ten minutes from the heart of Arnaudville which is home to local artisans and amazing food. You might also stop by Bayou Teche Brewing for tasty wood-fired pizza and iconic craft beer.

You can read more about Maison Stéphanie in Louisiana Life Magazine.

Ici on parle français. French is spoken here.
