Caleb Elliott and Jordan Allen Dean at NUNU

Natchitoches native Caleb Elliott spent many years creating and performing around Lafayette before moving on to the Muscle Shoals music scene. Most recently Elliott performed at the Acadiana Center for the Arts with Nashville recording artists the Secret Sisters. He returns to the area on Wednesday September 25 to open the fall season at the intimate listening room at NUNU Art & Culture Collective in Arnaudville. With him will be Muscle Shoals performing artist Jordan Allen Dean.

Boo! Bash at NUNU

On Saturday, October 26 from 7pm-11pm help the NUNU Arts and Culture Collective in Arnaudville cool off with their “Cool the Culture Campaign.” NUNU, a vibrant, all-volunteer-powered non-profit organization celebrating a banner year of rich experiences, aims to raise $50,000 by June 1, 2025, to install long needed air-conditioning and insulation to preserve art, artists, and patrons in these sultry climes.

At the Boo! Bash Fundraiser, Bonsoir Catin with Christine Balfa & Friends (followed by DJ Shane Guidry) will be performing. You can also enjoy food, drinks, costume contest, auctions, and dancing for a worthy cause

Dulcimer Potluck Jam

The Yambilee Pickers, a group of dulcimer players who meet every Wednesday morning at the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center just outside of Opelousas, Louisiana to jam, are hosting a big potluck and jam on Saturday, August 31st. Starting at 9am, dulcimer players from around the state and beyond will meet to jam out with other music lovers. They’ll break at 12pm to eat, everyone is invited to bring their own dish, and then they’ll continue playing till 3pm.

It’s the perfect opportunity to hear great music, meet new people, and enjoy the picturesque atmosphere of the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center.

Jam with Living Hall of Fame Legends

The Cajun French Music Hall of Fame Museum is hosting a jam session on June 1st where you can play with actual hall of fame legends! From 10am to 12pm, jam with Robert Elkins, David Greely, and Steve Riley with his son Burke Riley. Spend the morning practicing with the greats as Ray Landry hosts and conducts a Q&A.

This acoustic jam is open for musicians of all types and skill levels for free. The Acadiana Charter Chapter will be offering free jambalaya.

After the jam from 1pm-2pm, kids of all ages will also be able to make their own instrument.

This Mother’s Day weekend in Opelousas at Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino, the King of Swing Tucka returns to present the 2nd annual TUCKA James Music Fest featuring 16 artists and two shows.

On Friday, May 10, it’s the Big Country Takeover starring Lil Nate, Arthur Young, Rusty Metoyer, David Sylvester Jr., Adrian Bagher, Mike Broussard, and King Fred.

On Saturday, May 11, “King of Swing” Tucka performs with Lenny Williams, J Paul Jr., Big Pokey Bear, Mr. Hot Topic, FatDaddy, Mr. Smoke, Dee Dee Simon, and Mz. Suga.

Get your cowboy on at the Yambilee in Opelousas on Saturday, March 16th. It’s a battle of the DJs with DJ Potato and Dumb D versus Lil Jack and Titanic. There will also be a zydeco, swing out and bounce contest.

Lil’ Nate L’Argent Chicken Run Dance

Lil’ Nate & the Zydeco Big Timers return to Opelousas, Louisiana to revitalize the traditional L’Argent event with this chicken run dance at the Yambilee. Taking place on the Saturday after Mardi Gras on February 17th from 9pm til the early morning hours of the next day, this event allows you to recapture that Mardi Gras feeling.

On-site there will be a food truck as well as a photo booth so you can eat delicious food while you capture the moment with friends and loved ones. With a cash bar, you can party all night long.

Zyde Gras on the Square

*Location change. The Zyde Gras event on Tuesday, March 4th will now take place at the Yambilee Ag Arena located on 1939 W. Landry Street, Opelousas, LA

On March 4, it’s time for the 3rd annual Zyde Gras on the Square in Opelousas, Louisiana. This Mardi Gras celebration features zydeco legend,  Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band. Frank will be performing under the oaks at the St. Landry Parish Courthouse Square immediately following the Opelousas Imperial Mardi Gras Parade.

At Zyde Gras on the Square, enjoy live zydeco music, delicious food as well as arts and craft vendors. This event is free for the entire family.
