Mardi Gras Dance for the Elderly

The St. Landry Council on Aging is hosting a Mardi Gras Dance at the Northwest Community Center in Eunice on Monday, March 3rd. Doors open at 10:30am. You can enjoy complimentary king cake and punch or purchase a bowl of hot gumbo for $6.

Dance to zydeco music with J & the Zydeco Dog Pound performing live. After enjoying your meal and music, you can make it to the Lil Mardi Gras Parade as it passes through downtown Eunice and enjoy the next generation carrying on Mardi Gras season traditions.

Admission is $3 for people 60 and over and $5 for those under.

The St. Landry Council on Aging has been providing service to the elderly for over 50 years.

Mardi Gras Sunday Funday at Kayenne’s

It’s Mardi Gras season and Kayenne’s Bar & Grill is celebrating with live zydeco music. On Sunday, March 2nd, you can catch Chris Ardoin & Tha Nustep Krewe perform with activities for the whole family. Crawfish will be served all day.

Lil La Riviére Mardi Gras Parade & Chicken Chase

La Riviére Children’s Mardi Gras Parade & Chicken Chase is taking place on Friday, February 6th in Krotz Springs, Louisiana. Decked out in colorful costumes, kids can participate in this traditional Mardi Gras celebration safely. Learn more about this Mardi Gras tradition and where you can find a costume here.

Following the run will be a jam session at Riverview RV Resort. General admission is $10, but musicians get in free. Call to pre-register your child for the run at this number: 337-351-4260.

Riverview RV Resort is located right on the Atchafalaya River, 3 miles south of Krotz Springs across the levee from LA 105 South. It offers a beautiful view of the Atchafalaya River and has a public boat launch offering access to the river at any depth.

The Opelousas Imperial Mardi Gras Association presents 2026’s Opelousas Mardi Gras Ball, “Louisiana Legends and Lore”. On Saturday, January 24th at the Yambilee Building in Opelousas, you can meet King Imperial VII and Queen Lily VII and enjoy  live music performed by The River City Hit Squad.

This is your invitation to bring the very best of Louisiana to life with glamour and style. This formal Ball is a tribute to the characters and folklore that run deep in our culture. The Legends: World-renowned culinary chefs, iconic musicians and artists, or literary figures like Evangeline. The Lore: The mystique of Voodoo or the shadowy tales of the Rougarou.

Prepare to celebrate our state’s rich tapestry with grace and splendor.

Doors open at 6pm and you’ll be able to enjoy a cocktail social till 7:30pm. Royalty will be presented at 8pm.

Lebeau Mardi Gras Ball

Lebeau’s 20th Annual Mardi Gras Formal Ball will take place on January 24th at the Lebeau Parish Hall. Program starts at 6pm with music by DJ Lil’ Jack from 8pm-12pm.

Formal attire required. You may bring food, but the church will be selling drinks.

Lil’ Nate L’Argent Chicken Run Dance

Lil’ Nate & the Zydeco Big Timers return to Opelousas, Louisiana to revitalize the traditional L’Argent event with this chicken run dance at the Yambilee. Taking place on the Saturday after Mardi Gras on February 17th from 9pm til the early morning hours of the next day, this event allows you to recapture that Mardi Gras feeling.

On-site there will be a food truck as well as a photo booth so you can eat delicious food while you capture the moment with friends and loved ones. With a cash bar, you can party all night long.

Zyde Gras on the Square

On February 17, it’s time for the 3rd annual Zyde Gras on the Square in Opelousas, Louisiana. This Mardi Gras celebration features zydeco legend, Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band. Frank will be performing under the oaks at the St. Landry Parish Courthouse Square immediately following the Opelousas Imperial Mardi Gras Parade.

At Zyde Gras on the Square, enjoy live zydeco music, delicious food as well as arts and craft vendors. This event is free for the entire family.

Lundi Gras Live at Toby’s

The Imperial St. Landry Mardi Gras Association presents Lundi Gras Live at Toby’s Downtown located in the Beau’s Garage building in Downtown Opelousas. Kylie Frey, a local musician with national acclaim who records out of Nashville, will perform at the restaurant and bar on the Monday before Mardi Gras. This Lundi Gras celebration kicks off the season’s festivities for the City of Opelousas.

This event is open to people of all ages. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids.

Willie’s Mardi Gras Trail Ride

Willie’s in the historic town of Washington, Louisiana is hosting a Mardi Gras Trailride and Chicken Run on Superbowl Sunday, February 12. The trail ride will leave from Willie’s at 8am and travel along Hwy 182 and Hwy 745 before coming back to the American Legion by 1:30pm where the chicken chase will begin. Participants will collect gumbo ingredients from houses along the route like the traditional begging rituals of old.

La Rivière Mardi Gras Chicken Run and Parade

Head to Krotz Springs, Louisiana for the second La Rivière Mardi Gras Chicken Run and Parade taking place right along the Atchafalaya River at Riverview RV Park & Resort.

The parade itself departs at 9am from Riverview RV Park & Resort and heads North on Hwy 105 until it enters the town of Krotz Springs and travels through the town until heading back to Riverview. There will be an intermission at Nall Park with boudin and a bowl of gumbo available at the end. Women and children can participate in the parade but will have a separate chicken chase once the Mardi Gras Run returns to Riverview.

This event is cash only. General Admission is $10 and includes live music once the parade returns. If you’d like to participate in the trail ride it’s $20 and $20 for the chicken run.
