It's time! Let me Take You Back to Raphael Pt. 3! On August 16th right off of Prairie Ronde Highway in Lawtell, Louisiana just a few minutes from Opelousas, enjoy wide open skies and secluded countryside at this trail ride event. The ride leaves at 5pm from 163 Raphael Road, Opelousas. Participate in 2×2 single-footing and 2×2 pacing horse races with prizes for the winners. DJ Sensation will play all your zydeco favorites from 8:30pm to 11pm.

It's going to be a true trail ride celebrating the iconic horsemanship the area is known for, so no horse, no entry. Bikes are allowed, however. This is a BYOB event. There will be free hen sauce while it lasts.

Willie’s Mardi Gras Trail Ride

Willie's in the historic town of Washington, Louisiana is hosting a Mardi Gras Trailride and Chicken Run on Superbowl Sunday, February 12. The trail ride will leave from Willie's at 8am and travel along Hwy 182 and Hwy 745 before coming back to the American Legion by 1:30pm where the chicken chase will begin. Participants will collect gumbo ingredients from houses along the route like the traditional begging rituals of old.

Lebeau Posse Trailride

Calling all Creole Cowboys, it's time for the Lebeau Posse Trail Ride! Head to Lebeau, Louisiana, home of the Lebeau Zydeco Festival, for a weekend of zydeco music and good times. On Friday, October 11th at 4pm, kick off the trail ride weekend with a delicious blackpot dinner at the Immaculate Conception Church.

Then, on Saturday, gates open at 9am. The ride will leave the church grounds at 1pm and travel down Petite Prairie Bayou Road. This is a family-friendly event with a hay wagon for the kids. DJ Lil Jack will take the reigns on the church grounds and C.J. Vedell will perform at 3pm with Koray Broussard performing at 6pm.

Admission is $20 and free for children 12 and under. Proceeds go to Immaculate Conception Church. Party wagons and horses only. No 4-wheelers or side-by-sides are allowed. Ice chests are also prohibited.

Opelousas Creole Easter

Come out to Opelousas, Louisiana for the Opelousas Creole Easter Blackpot Cook-Off. This event is taking place at the Life Community Complex, formerly the Indian Hills Country Club. With a mini-trail ride, zydeco dance, and Easter egg hunt for the kids, this event is sure to be a ton of fun. Gates open at 8am, but the ride leaves at noon. No 4-wheelers are allowed. At 4pm, you'll be able to hear RJ & Kreole Smoove live.

Admission is $10, but kids get in free. If you'd like to try your hand and participate in the cook-off, entry is $20.

Cankton Courir de Mardi Gras

Join the celebration at the 6th Annual Crew of Cankton Courir De Mardi Gras! Get ready for a day of lively festivities, mouthwatering gumbo, and a Chicken Run-Trail Ride that promises adventure and excitement.

The vibrant spirit of Mardi Gras is coming alive at the Landon Pitre Memorial Park in Cankton, just a few minutes south of Sunset. Entry fee is $5 per person at the gate.

Showcase your culinary mastery at their gumbo cook-off. Gather your team, bring your secret recipes, and compete for the title of Gumbo Champion. The entry fee is $60 per team, and the cooking starts at 9:00 AM. Make sure your creations are ready for judging at 1:30 PM – may the best gumbo win.

Embark on an unforgettable Chicken Run-Trail Ride, departing from the park at 9:00 AM. Get your costumes ready, as both top and bottom attire are required. Let the good times roll as you traverse scenic trails and embrace the thrill of the ride. The cost is $20 per person – a small price for a day full of memories and camaraderie.

Don't forget to dress to impress. Costumes are a key ingredient to the Mardi Gras magic. From colorful feathers to sparkly sequins, let your creativity shine. While masks and capuchons aren't required, feel free to add those finishing touches to elevate your ensemble.

Get ready to dance the day away because there will be live music starting at 2:30 PM until 5:30 PM with a live DJ starting at 9:00 AM. Stay tuned for announcements on the incredible musical acts that will be providing the soundtrack to our Mardi Gras celebration.

All proceeds benefit the Louisiana Special Olympics.
