Zydeco Breakfast
The annual downtown Zydeco Breakfast takes place on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend from 9am-11am and is held in conjunction with the Original Southwest Louisiana Zydeco Music Festival which returns this year to the Yambilee Building in Opelousas. Held under the beautiful oak trees surrounding the Courthouse Square, local downtown eateries will feature an assortment of breakfast menu items for sale, from coffee and pastries to breakfast casseroles and specialty dishes. With live zydeco music, it’s the perfect start to the Zydeco Music Festival experience.
A parade organized by the Original Southwest Zydeco Festival will also roll down Landry Street during the breakfast event. The parade begins at 10am at the eastern entrance of the city on Wallior and Landry Streets.
Local restaurants and bars around the Courthouse Square include Java Square, Back in Time Restaurant, Chicorys at the Palace, and The Brass Rail. So, bring your lawn chairs and sit beneath the oaks. Enjoy the entertainment in a relaxed and charming setting in the heart of downtown Opelousas.
