Zydeco Jam, Arnaudville, Louisiana

Zydeco Jam at NUNU

Jam sessions are a great way for musicians to get to know one another and share community and a love of music. Every 3rd Saturday at NUNU Art & Culture Collective in Arnaudville, you can enjoy a Zydeco Jam led by Izreal Chaisson.

“In 2014, my parents brought me to what was, at the time, the only Creole/Zydeco jam session in Louisiana,” Izreal says, “I was just a kid, but that experience left a lasting impression on me. Sitting in a room filled with musicians, learning tunes, and watching generations come together through music showed me just how powerful our culture truly is.

Zydeco is one of the most exciting musical styles in the world, and Louisiana Creole music is one of America’s oldest living musical traditions, with roots stretching back to the 1700s. Even then, I remember thinking there should be more opportunities for people to gather, learn, and share this music. That idea stayed with me for over a decade.”

In 2026, he expanded his mission through partnership with NUNU Arts & Culture Collective in Arnaudville. Today, musicians, dancers, culture bearers, and community members continue coming together to celebrate and preserve this tradition.
