Russell’s Food Center

2024-10-21T13:44:05-05:00

Russell's Food Center is a great place to stock up Cajun food products and take home a taste of Louisiana. George Clifton Coles and his wife, Nora Castille Coles opened a small grocer in 1934 in Arnaudville, selling mostly sugar, rice, flour, and some canned goods. Five generations later, it's still a family-run grocery store that also offers boudin, plate lunches, and even catering for special events. The bakery offers a wide selection of fresh bread, daily including their brag-worthy olive loaf and sausage jalapeno cheese bread. The meat department is just as enticing with homemade sausage, pork tasso, and even beef tongue. Interested in what's on the plate lunch menu? You can visit RussellsFoodCenter.com for a list of weekly specials.

For over 30 years, Ruby's Café has kept locals coming back for more in downtown Eunice, Louisiana. By now, locals know the lunch menu by heart and there's a reason why it hasn't changed in the last three decades – because the recipes are tried and true. Every Monday, baked chicken is served. Tuesdays, the restaurant fries up thick, juicy pork chops. Wednesday, they prepare a Louisiana specialty called Cajun smoked ponce. Thursday is pork ribs, and Friday, they serve their famous crawfish étouffée over fried eggplant. More options are available on the menu, but these are the old favorites everyone looks forward to each week. The restaurant is also open for breakfast, so drop in for their homemade biscuits and jelly.
